Shakira Separates From Boyfriend Of 11 Years
But Columbian pop star says she and Antonio de la Rua view split as 'temporary.'

<P>With Valentine's Day a little more than a month away, the list of celebrity splits keeps on growing.</P><P>In a post on her <a href="http://www.shakira.com/news/title/france-11011" target="_blank">blog</a>, Shakira announced on Monday that she and her boyfriend of nearly 11 years, Antonio de la Rúa, are taking a break. While rumors of wedding bells have emerged about the couple in the past, the singer confirmed they have been separated since last August but chose to keep the news under wraps.</P><P>"We made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship," Shakira wrote in her post. "Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now."</P><P>The announcement comes fresh on the heels of other long-term celebrity couples calling it quits, including <a href="/news/articles/1649757/courteney-cox-david-arquette-separate.jhtml">Courteney Cox and David Arquette</a>, who separated last year after 11 years of marriage, and <a href="/news/articles/1655153/mila-kunis-macaulay-culkin-split.jhtml">Mila Kunis and Macaulay Culkin</a>, who ended their nine-year relationship earlier this month.</P><P>Shakira added that she and de la Rúa, who is a lawyer and the son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rúa, "view this period of separation as temporary," explaining that they would continue to work together.</P><P>"Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done," she said. "We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication."</P><P>The singer also noted that the two are an "exceptional couple and partners," and stressed that the separation was amicable. "Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible," she said.</P>

The latest has been taken by a group of 641 masseurs in Thailand, who massaged 641 people simultaneously for 12 minutes on August 30, 2012.
The most impressive part of the event was arguably the absence of any string-vested tourists with gnarled toenails and salacious grins, whom you might expect to be the first volunteers when free Thai massages are being given out.
This event however took place in the clinical setting of the Thailand Medical Hub Expo 2012, at the Impact Mueangthong Arena in Bangkok.
Both the expo and event are supported by Thailand's Ministry of Public Health and presided by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

<P>If you had to guess which artist has the most Facebook "likes," who would you guess? <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga?</a> <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber?</a> <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson?</a> Close, but no cigar.</P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/eminem/artist.jhtml">Eminem</a> recently set the record for the most Likes by a living person with 60.1 million, blowing past the competition and landing at #5 on the list of the top 10 Facebook pages.</P><P>According to the <a href="http://pagedata.appdata.com/pages/leaderboard/fc/fan_count" target="_blank">App Data</a> page, Eminem is picking up close to 179,000 new Likes a week (or 26,854 a day), edging out <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml/">Rihanna,</a> who has 59.4 million Likes and is gaining around 167,000 "likes" per week pace (or 22,141 a day).</P><P>The only things blocking the 39-year-old Detroit MC's path to the top are the kinds of wildly popular time suckers that are hard for any flesh-and-blood superstar to pass: YouTube (61.2 million), Texas HoldEm Poker (63.8 million), Facebook itself (70.3 million) and the Facebook for Every Phone page (117.5 million).</P><P>Where do his fellow pop stars land? Shakira is #8 on the list with 53.3 million Likes (just below "The Simpsons" with 53.8 million), then Lady Gaga at #9 (53 million) and Jackson at #10 (51.1 million). Bieber is down at #15 (45.7 million), just ahead of Katy Perry (#16, 45.5 million), Linkin Park (#17, 44.2 million) and Lil Wayne (#20, 39.8 million). You didn't ask, but we'll tell you that MTV is at #27 (36 million).</P><P>Slim Shady might be the Facebook king, but he has quite a way to go when it comes to ruling the Twitter universe. That realm belongs to Gaga, who has more than 27.8 million followers, with Bieber a hair behind at 25.8 million and Perry gaining ground at #3 with 24.2 million. Em, meanwhile, is way down on the list at #19 with 11.8 million followers.</P>

Miley Cyrus Target Of 911 Prank
Police rush to her L.A. home with guns drawn after home invasion call.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/cyrus__miley/artist.jhtml">Miley Cyrus</a> appears to be the target of a 911 prank: According to reports, LAPD officers rushed to the singer's Los Angeles home Wednesday after someone called about a possible home invasion, but there was no home invasion and no sign of danger when they arrived.</P><P>According to <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2012/08/01/miley-cyrus-swatting-home-invasion-lapd-false-alarm/" target="_blank">TMZ</a>, police received a call around 6:50 p.m. PT that someone had possibly broken into Cyrus' home and that there might have been shots fired. When the cops arrived, with their guns drawn, they found no one home and determined it was a false alarm.</P><P>Now, law enforcement officials are saying the only crime committed was something known as "swatting," which is when a "911 abuser" attempts to trick law enforcement to dispatch units by calling in a serious crime. The prankster, officials add, can be charged with a crime and arrested in connection with the "swat." Additionally, if someone was hurt or killed in the process, those charges could become more serious.</P><P>A spokesperson for the LAPD told <a href="http://www.gossipcop.com/miley-cyrus-home-invasion-prank-911-call-gunshots-swatting-police-cops-lapd-august-2012/" target="_blank">Gossip Cop</a>, "We believed there was a crime in progress." They are now investigating the matter to determine who placed the call.</P><P>A rep for the singer/actress had not responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time. The usually outspoken star also hasn't addressed the incident on her Twitter account. Over the past week, Miley has been spotted hanging out with her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, on the set of his film "Paranoia" in Philadelphia.</P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a></P>

Lady Gaga's ARTPOP: A History Of Album Title Oddities
From unpronounceable symbols to parentheses, Gaga's ALL-CAPS album title joins the ranks of the all-time weirdest.

<P>Over the weekend, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> struck a blow against copy editors everywhere when she announced that the title of her new album, <a href="/news/articles/1691226/lady-gaga-new-album-artpop.jhtml"><i>ARTPOP,</i></a> must <i>always</i> be written in ALL CAPS, because "it's all in the details."</P><P>And while we're not trying to downplay said details, we'd be like to point out that Gaga isn't exactly the <i>first</i> artist to demand orthographical satisfaction. Shoot, she's not even the first to go ALL CAPS: Earlier this year, Linkin Park did the same thing with their <a href="/news/articles/1688422/linkin-park-living-things.jhtml"><i>LIVING THINGS</i></a> album, only they one-upped Gaga by also requesting that all <i>songs</i> on the album also be written in all caps, bravely eschewing the lowercase for reasons apparent only to them.</P><P>In fact, the history of popular music is packed with <a href="/news/articles/1579620/panic-at-disco-know-punctuation-better-than-they-think.jhtml">affronts to punctuation</a> — from early pioneers like the Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and James Brown's "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine" to more recent torchbearers like Panic! at the Disco and Godspeed You! Black Emperor — though rarely have artists had the audacity to extend that mistreatment to the album title itself.</P><P>Of course, there are those who have bravely dared to throw logic (and roughly 300 years of letter-case tradition) out the window when it came time to name their new albums. So in honor of Gaga's <i>ARTPOP</i> demands, here's a look back at some of the greatest — and by that, we mean most nonsensical — album titles in history.</P><P><b>Led Zeppelin's <i>IV</i></b>: At the peak of their powers — both artistically and, it would seem, <i>mystically</i> — Zeppelin decided they didn't need to title their fourth album. Instead, they printed four hand-drawn symbols (each representing a band member) on its inner sleeve. The move has subsequently enthralled generations of bong-glazed dorm inhabitants and only added to the album's mystique. In the 40 years since it was released, the record has come to be known as <i>IV,</i> <i>Runes,</i> <i>Zoso</i> (after Jimmy Page's symbol) and "the one with 'Stairway to Heaven' on it."</P><P><b>Prince's <i>Love Symbol</i> album</b>: Released in the lead-up to the Purple One's "symbol" phase — when he changed his stage name to an unpronounceable hieroglyph that incorporated the symbols for both male and female — it understandably infuriated his label, Warner Bros., which was precisely what Prince intended. (Note to labels: Do not release greatest-hits packages without Prince's approval.) After the album didn't sell (he blamed this on Warner), Prince would eventually begin appearing in public with the phrase "Slave" written on his face. Shocking, to be sure, but at least you could <i>pronounce</i> it.</P><P><b>Ministry's <i>Psalm 69</i></b>: Its actual title is a collection of Greek symbols (that translate to "head") and the number "69" in Greek numerals. Not only that, but Ministry named their 1992 album in honor of occultist Aleister Crowley's "The Book of Lies," which was first published as "Which is also Falsely Called BREAKS. The Wanderings or Falsifications of the One Thought of Frater Perduarbo, which Thought is itself Untrue. Liber CCCXXXIII [Book 333]." And <i>that</i> would have been a ridiculous name for an album.</P><P><b>Sigur Ros' <i>( )</i></b>: The Icelandic art-rockers really outdid themselves on their third album, and we're not just talking about the decision to sing all the songs in a made-up language called "Hopelandic." Technically, <i>( )</i> has no actual title. Rather, the brackets are meant to represent its two halves or give the listener the opportunity to determine the title themselves. Oh, and officially, all of the tracks on the album are untitled too. Your move, Gaga.</P><P><b>Coldplay's <i>X&Y</i></b>: Sure, it's got a traditional title. But ever the <i>artistes,</i> Coldplay decided to print the name of their 2005 album in the <a href="/news/articles/1503742/coldplays-album-cover-decoded.jhtml">Baudot code</a>, an early forerunner of the Morse code that relied on a series of 1's and 0's to convey messages. Needless to say, the logic behind the decision was about as difficult to crack as the code itself.</P><P><b>M.I.A. <i>/\/\ /\ Y /\</i></b>: Yes, we know that technically, M.I.A.'s 2010 album is called <a href="/news/articles/1638991/mias-new-album-called-y.jhtml"><i>Maya</i></a> (she named it after herself, following in the tradition of her first two albums, which were named in honor of her mother and father), but let the record state that when she officially unveiled the title, she did so in tricky typographical fashion. No wonder <a href="/news/articles/1643219/mias-new-album-turd-diplo-tweets.jhtml">Diplo hated it</a> so much.</P><P><b>Liars' <i>WIXIW</i></b>: It's pronounced "Wish You," FYI.  played some new music for her fans from a car in a New York City parking lot on Sunday night.</P><P>In barely audible footage <a href="http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news/a394632/lady-gaga-plays-new-track-on-car-stereo-for-fans-in-new-york.html" target="_blank">posted</a> online, the dance track plays in the background — the majority of what is heard in the video is the club-banging beat. Gaga sits in the backseat of an SUV as fans call the track "amazing." The 38-second clip ends with the Mother Monster driving away from her fans.</P><P>Could it be the song that will knock Jepsen from her lofty perch? Only time will tell.</P><P>Gaga will <a href="/news/articles/1686922/lady-gaga-new-album-title.jhtml">reveal the name</a>
 of her new album in September. Last week she hinted that the first song off the LP is produced by longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow, who worked with Gaga on <I>Born This Way</I> singles "Born This Way" and "The Edge of Glory."</P>

Rihanna Defies Oprah's 'Badass' Expectations in Interview Teaser
In a preview for Oprah's August 19 sit-down with the star, Rihanna opens up about her fear of climbing the ladder of fame.

<P><MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1940303">Rihanna</MTVNLINK> is all about making trips to her Barbados homeland to show some love, and this time she's brought along a familiar face: Oprah.</P><P>And from the looks of a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVd8EwppORw" target="_blank">clip</a> released online, the two are so familiar that they look like they've been friends for years as they hang around the house. In the teaser for Rihanna's appearance on "Oprah's Next Chapter," which airs August 19 on OWN, the two get even more comfortable than the clothes they're wearing as they if ride through the city and chat before a gorgeous ocean view deck.</P><P><iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/uVd8EwppORw?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></P><P>"I went there with my own ideas of who she was by watching the videos and listening to her music," Oprah says in the clip's opening scene. "I thought she was going to be kind of a badass, kind of a hard-edged rocker/pop woman. Nothing could have been farther from the truth."</P><P>As it turns out, the pop titan opened up completely with Oprah about her fear of climbing the ladder of fame, getting emotional at times.</P><P>"I'm super-duper afraid of the pedestal that comes with fame," Rihanna says, before admitting her loneliness.</P><P>Cameras followed the pair as they drove to the singer's old neighborhood (with Rihanna behind the wheel) and interacted with the locals. As if she was stripped of her fame, Oprah tells viewers that she was surprised at how low-key the visit was. Latest food fashion in China?s noodle restaurants: replace the sweaty, grumpy chef with a harder-working, never-complaining ?NoodleBot.? That is, a robot programmed to slice noodles.
These iron noodle chefs have made headlines on China's Internet recently for their quirky looks and awesome productivity -- a ?NoodleBot? can slice 150 pieces of noodles per minute, which makes them about three times more efficient than a human chef.
Chef Cui: The original ?noodle-bot??NoodleBot? -- which sells for around RMB 14,800 (US$2,330) -- was invented by Cui Runquan (???), a 36-year-old farmer-turned-restaurateur from Hebei Province in central China.
I invented this because I want to free all sliced-noodle chefs from hard labor.

Rihanna Tours Barbados With Oprah In New Photos
Pair filmed segments for August 19 episode of 'Oprah's Next Chapter' in Rihanna's hometown.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> got a visit from Oprah Winfrey over the weekend. The two ladies met up in the singer's native Barbados to film for Ri's upcoming appearance on <a href="/news/articles/1690437/rihanna-oprahs-next-chapter.jhtml">"Oprah's Next Chapter," airing August 19</a> on OWN.</P><P>Both women tweeted about the meet-up. "What a refreshing surprise she is!" Oprah <a href="https://twitter.com/Oprah/status/231945699267330051" target="_blank">wrote</a> about her chat with the VMA-nominated superstar.She then tweeted out a photo of the pair walking together — Oprah in all green, while Rihanna sported an aqua-colored, floral-print, full-length dress.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="The 2012 Video Music Award Nominees Are..." id="vid:820732.id:1690828" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>The excitement for the chat was felt on both ends with Rihanna <a href="https://twitter.com/rihanna/status/231912768905818112" target="_blank">tweeting</a>, "Look who popped up in my Hometown BARBADOS #topnotch." She included a photo of the twosome in a car with Rihanna behind the wheel.</P><P>This interview marks the first time that Rihanna and Oprah have formally had a sit-down interview. Oprah dedicated an episode of her talk show to domestic violence after the 2009 assault of Rihanna by Chris Brown, but Rihanna did not appear on the show.</P><P>Winfrey had a message for young women who find themselves in abusive relationships during that Rihanna-inspired episode. "If you go back with a man who hits you, it's because you don't think you're worthy of being with a man who won't," Winfrey said during that show. "I've said before, 'Love doesn't hurt, and if a man hits you once, he will hit you again.' "</P><P>Rihanna later appeared on Oprah's show in January 2010, where she performed Bob Marley's classic "Redemption Song" to benefit the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.</P><P>Oprah first announced the Rihanna <a href="/news/articles/1687630/rihanna-oprah-next-chapter-interview.jhtml">"Next Chapter"</a> episode in June. The show has already featured insightful chats with the likes of the Kardashians, 50 Cent and Lady Gaga.</P><P>A few weeks after her Oprah episode airs, Rihanna will see if she can take home a Moonman at the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2012/">2012 MTV Video Music Awards</a>. <P>Now that the Summer Olympics are in full swing, it seems as though the entire world has been caught up in watching their country's best athletes go for gold. We've definitely caught the Olympics fever here at MTV News and have been hard-pressed to pull our eyes away from all the action, and we're not alone. Thanks to a slew of enthusiastic tweets from our favorite celebrities, it's obvious the fever has spread to the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Pink, particularly after the U.S. gymnastics team won their gold medal Tuesday evening (July 31).</P><P>"Those girls are tearing the floor up for the USA! #Olympics," Lady Gaga <a href="https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/230501177014493184" target="_blank">tweeted</a>. "Woohoo! Gold for the ladies! Just want to squeeze them! So much talent and beauty. Did u seem all holding hands?
