DIY niangao for Chinese New Year

It?s almost Chinese New Year, so while buying your fireworks (although you?ll have to go outside downtown this year), be sure to pick up a few ingredients to make the niangao -- the lucky glutinous rice-based New Year cake.

Although easy to pick up a finished one at the store, here are three varieties that will definitely add a little sweetness to your Shanghai Chinese New Year dinner table.

Baked niangao

The batter takes about three minutes to put together, then throw it in the oven (convection or otherwise) and about an hour later, your cake is done.

To sweeten it up, serve with a little honey.

Lady Gaga Releases Full 'Born This Way' Lyrics

Thanks to the excitement of her Little Monsters everywhere, Lady Gaga released the full "Born This Way" lyrics on Twitter, after teasing her fans with several lyrics earlier in the day.

"Are you ready for the full lyrics?! Can we trend #bornthiswaylyrics!? It has been in my heart for over a year. I'm so excited to share it," she tweeted. "It's #1 worldwide! That was fast! You're so radical! Here you [go] Monsters, this one's for you."

She tweeted out the song credits as well. The song was written and co-produced by Gaga. Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow also got co-production credits on the track, off her May album of the same name.

Nicki Minaj and Rihanna prove that girls will be girls — even if they are platinum-selling, chart-topping megastar girls.

The hitmaking ladies were filming the visual for the MC's next single "Fly" over the weekend, and on Saturday the Barbadian-born songstress tweeted a photo of the two on set making sassy faces in full "Fly" girl regalia.

In the picture Rihanna sports pin-straight, shoulder-length, crimson-and-burgundy locks, smoky eye makeup and a low-cut, black top as she leans on Nick's shoulder. Minaj mugs for the camera rocking super-long false eyelashes with a swipe emerald-colored glitter on her lower lids and a pink bustier adorned with silvery spikes.

"Me and Nikki in our new crib, lol! Gettin busy on set of FLY!!!" Rihanna wrote. "Its so hard to keep my hands off!"

About an hour later Minaj laid down some guidelines for her new pretend paramour and roommate.

"Lol. If we're gonna liv 2gthr and hook up u gotta learn how 2 spell my name! Lmaooooooo," she wrote. The Young Money raptress followed up with sly a disclaimer, lifting a line from her beastly Kanye West collabo "Monster," writing, "Gossip Gossip ni#@a just stop it! :p."

Minaj spoke last week about teaming up with her "Fly" collaborator on the video set, and while she remained tight-lipped about the concept, she maintained that fans can expect a major clip to accompany the Pink Friday cut.

"We're shooting the video with Rihanna for 'Fly' this weekend," Nicki told E! News on Thursday. "We're going to save the world in more ways than one with the video, and that's all I can say about that."

Perhaps Minaj was ready for any fresh remarks from Rihanna, as she playfully conceded the Loud songstress can get a little touchy-feely.

"I love Ri Ri!" she gushed. "I mean, when she's not grabbing my ass, she's a sweet girl."

Shakira Unveils 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)'

Track is the official song of the 2010 World Cup and will benefit public health centers in Africa.

Fresh off her duet with Rascal Flatts frontman Gary LeVox on Wednesday night's "American Idol," Shakira has unveiled yet another collaboration ... this one set to take place on an even bigger stage (yes, that's actually possible).

On her official site, she's just posted a track called "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," which will serve as the official theme for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, set to kick off June 11 in South Africa.

The track — a collabo between Shaki and South African Afro-fusion band Freshlyground — was co-produced by John Hill, who most recently produced a pair of songs from her 2009 album She Wolf. Like much of her work, it's a poly-sonic affair: According to a statement on her site, the chorus of the song borrows from a favorite Cameroonian marching chant that was popularized by the group Golden Voices.

Shakira and Freshlyground will perform "Waka Waka" at the World Cup closing ceremonies, held before the final match on July 11 in Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium. The song will be available for download through digital retailers the week of May 11, and will also be included on Listen Up! The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album, set to be released the week of May 31 by Sony Music Entertainment. A Spanish-language version of the track will also be available.

Proceeds from the sale of the album will benefit FIFA's "20 Centers for 2010" initiative, which aims to achieve positive social change through football (that's "soccer" to us Americans) by building 20 "Football for Hope" public health centers across Africa.

In addition to her performance at the closing ceremonies, Shakira will also be one of the headline performers at the official FIFA World Cup Kick-off Celebration Concert on June 10, broadcast from Orlando Stadium in Soweto/Johannesburg South Africa. A video for "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" is also set to debut in mid-May.

Miley Cyrus' parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, are reportedly selling their marital home. The singer and his wife have put their multimillion-dollar Toluca Lake, California, house on the market, according to Gossip Cop.

The couple is asking for more than $7 million for the home. The website also reports that Tish has been looking at homes in Encino since she announced her split from Billy Ray in October. The news comes at the same time it was announced that family friend Bret Michaels popped the question to longtime girlfriend Kristi Gibson.

Michaels was rumored to be the cause of the split between Tish and Billy Ray as speculation swirled that he had an affair with Miley's mom. Michaels, who recorded several songs with Miley, denied any wrongdoing.

"The answer is no," the singer said when he appeared on "Fox & Friends." "I've been friends with her family forever. ... It started out with me and Miley simply working on a song together. Her mom, Tish, likes 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn,' the first concert Miley ever saw was Poison, and so they wanted to remake it for the new record. ... When I was in the studio, Miley came in and sang on my song ... and that was it."

Miley has been busy working on her latest film, "So Undercover," and was recently spotted shopping in New Orleans during a break from filming. According to E!, the teen star was spotted at Saks Fifth Avenue with makeup artist Denika Bedrossian. The singer also reportedly added to her tattoo collection with Bedrossian.

Shakira's 'Loca' Video: Watch An Exclusive Preview!

In her previous videos, Shakira's gone global, game-set-match and, after shooting "She Wolf," probably to the chiropractor. And now, in her new video for "Loca," she's gone guerrilla.

Shot run-and-gun style in Barcelona last month, the "Loca" clip follows Shakira and her crew on a madcap dash around the city — including scenes shot in a public fountain and on the back of a motorcycle, which got her in hot water with local authorities. Thanks to all that, it's a decidedly different turn from her past efforts, most of which were big-budget affairs, and all of which avoided getting her in trouble with the law.

"Loca" — which features a cameo by British rapper Dizzee Rascal — is the first single off her new album, Sale El Sol (due October 19), and while the full video won't premiere until Wednesday on MTV.com, you can watch an exclusive 30-second sneak peek right now. There's roller skating, frolicking in a fountain, (very public) costume changes, motorcycle riding and — of course — a whole lot of hip-shaking, too. It's sexy, cheeky and, yes, even a little bit crazy, but then again, what Shakira video isn't? And while "Loca" may be a departure from her previous clips, what makes it great is the simple fact that none of her pop contemporaries — not even Lady Gaga — would dare try something like this. And that's why we love her so much.

David Guetta 'Honored' To Have Rihanna On 'Who's That Chick'

David Guetta has made himself at home on the U.S. charts, teaming up with a long list of heavyweight collaborating partners that includes the Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Lil Wayne, Taio Cruz and Flo Rida. The electronic dance-music producer recently added Rihanna to that list, and he spoke to MTV News about their collabo, "Who's That Chick."

Guetta originally produced the track for Rihanna's return-to-pop/R&B album, Loud. But when it didn't make the final cut, Guetta decided to release "Who's That Chick" on his own, with the Barbados singer featuring. After just three weeks on the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart, "Chick" is sitting at #3, and at #51 on the Hot 100. And given that the song almost didn't happen, it's an impressive feat.

"Bu, which is Akon's brother, was doing the A&R on the new album for Rihanna [and] came to me and asked me for some tracks," Guetta recalled during a sit-down with MTV News on Wednesday. "And I was feeling terrible because I'm such a huge fan but I didn't have any beats that would fit. I just didn't have any ideas. Luckily, Guetta was able to overcome his temporary beatmakers' block. "I came up with the idea for the song for 'Who's That Chick,' and I said, 'That's it. It's perfect!' " Guetta continued.

"I went to see her in London; she was having a concert. And just before the concert, I went to see her backstage and I played her the record and she was like, 'Yeah, I like it.' But I think she was doubting it a little bit. And then after the concert, I saw her again and she was like, 'That record is stuck in my head!' And I was like, 'OK, let's do it!' Finally, which is really amazing for me, we did it as 'David Guetta featuring Rihanna.' It's a great honor for me."

Remixes of the club jam are now available digitally, including additional edits and mixes by Adam F, Afrojack and Guetta. Fans can also look forward to not one, but two music videos for Guetta's "Who's That Chick," which have been shot and will drop in the next few weeks. (Stick with MTV News as we serve up more details.) Meanwhile, Guetta's greatest hits album, One More Love, is due on Tuesday and includes the Rihanna-assisted banger.

Lady Gaga Gets 'Bigger And Bigger' On Born This Way, RedOne Says

'She's growing all the time, from the day I met her,' producer tells MTV News.

It's only a matter of weeks until Lady Gaga releases the first single from her highly anticipated album Born This Way, due in May. Producer RedOne recently chatted with MTV News about their latest collaboration, saying it shows the next step in the evolution of the girl formerly known as Stefani Germanotta.

"She's growing all the time, from the day I met her," RedOne said. "Of course, she's an encyclopedia of music. She listened to all the Bruce Springsteens, all the legends, and she has music in her. But on her personal level, she's always growing and growing and growing and becoming bigger and bigger, and her vision's the same thing. She just needed this platform to put all her ideas and learning from what she's been doing [into one place], and she's doing her thing."

With work on the album close to complete, this is a very exciting time for Gaga and him. "It feels exciting. It feels very exciting," he said with a smile on his face. "It's really exciting, and I hope the world is going to enjoy this as much as we do."

RedOne also dished about the album's forthcoming single. "It's so beautiful, and Gaga is very special to all of us — to the world," he said. "Honestly, the only thing we do is we get into the studio and suddenly magic happens. We never overthink, or we just do what we do. That's how it all started. With 'Just Dance,' we did it in one hour. There was no overthinking. Even though I remember when we did 'Poker Face,' people said musically it brought something new to the music and you won't be able to top it, we went into the studio and we did 'Bad Romance' on a bus.

"That explains how we do it, so I can't tell you anything about what's coming, but that's what we do. We just get in and do music we love and feel it, and thank God it comes out good."

Miley Cyrus Vows To Travel, See Fans In New Year

In a video message, the pop starlet shares a Christmas message and her New Year's resolutions.

From her rebellious "Can't Be Tamed" clip to the headline-making bong video, Miley Cyrus introduced the world to a whole new side of her in 2010. But with the New Year fast approaching, the 18-year-old star is looking toward the future. In a new video message, the singing sensation wished fans a Merry Christmas and shared some of her new year's resolutions, including travel plans and possibly a new tour.

"What's up Miley World? It's Miley," the pop star says alongside younger sister Noah. "We're sitting here coloring. I just wanted to tell you guys, 'Have an awesome Christmas and a very happy New Year.' I'm really looking forward to 2011. Got some new ideas. I want to go on some cool trips. I want to travel and I want to make this the year that I go out and do what I'm here to do, and that's help people and make people happy."

Not only does Miley want to do some sightseeing, but she's also intending to venture out on a new tour. "Hopefully I can tour or somehow come see my fans 'cause I would love to see you guys more in 2011," she continued. "That would be rad. Just want to tell you guys I love you and hope you all are well and happy and healthy during holidays. Bye."

According to big sister Brandi, the Cyrus holiday gathering was filled with music and karaoke, as Miley and her younger sister sang a "Can't Be Tamed" duet. "Miley and noah are currently singing 'can't be tamed' on noah's new karaoke machine," the 23-year-old Brandi tweeted. "It's pretty hilarious. my Mom is videoing. maybe if you're lucky i'll snag it and upload."

Miley's father, Billy Ray — who split from the megastar's mother, Tish, in October — also was present at the get-together to spend some time with his children at their 500-acre farm outside of Nashville.

The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards got off to a crazy start, courtesy of a performance from hip-swiveling superstar Shakira.

The Colombian megastar opened the show with her Sale el Sol single "Loca," rallying the crowd with her signature undulating moves. Flanked by two dancers, Shakira hit the Madrid stage in a silvery bra top and fringed harem pants under neon lights. Then British grime rapper Dizzee Rascal joined the singer for his verse on the English version of the track, rocking a simply sleek black jacket and white T-shirt, and getting the crowd amped.

After "Loca," Dizzee retreated backstage as Shakira launched into her global World Cup anthem "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)," a suitable choice for an award show staged in the nation of the world soccer champs. The Spaniards showed their pride throughout the percussion-heavy jam, as mammoth flags rose from various points in the audience, and were waved above the crowd. Swirls of confetti rained on the crowd as Shakira wrapped up her high-energy set.

Her collabo with Dizzee is just one of several brushes with hip-hop the singer has explored in recent years. Shakira told MTV News in 2009 that she was trying to broaden her musical horizons by hooking up with rap artists.

"I'm never going to be a hardcore hip-hop singer," she said. "I come from Colombia, but I think music today ... it's about bringing elements that belong to different universes, even though they're opposed or similar, and making them exist in this big melting pot that the world is today. The world has shrunk, and we're just a big neighborhood, and it's kind of cool."

Shakira's set was the first in a night packed with performances from some of the world's biggest stars. Katy Perry, Linkin Park, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Kings of Leon, B.o.B, Ke$ha, Bon Jovi and more all will grace the EMA stage. The night is hosted by "Desperate Housewives" diva Eva Longoria.

The 2010 EMAs air on MTV2 on Sunday (November 7) at 9 p.m. ET, and an edited, performance-heavy version will be broadcast Friday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
