Last year, Miley Cyrus declared that she Can't Be Tamed. The album features a cover of the Poison classic "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" that the teen star recorded with the glam-metal band's frontman, Bret Michaels, himself. And now, according to Michaels, the track likely will be released later in 2011 as a single ... finally. The Poison singer told to E! News that Cyrus' label initially had intended to issue her version of the song as a single much sooner, but those plans were sidetracked thanks to a bit of tabloid drama involving Michaels. "The record label was supposed have to this huge humongous release of 'Every Rose,' " the rocker explained. "It was going to be Miley's next-step song, but because of that, they stepped back. It really bummed me out. I worked hard on that." The "that" he's referring to is his rumored affair with Miley's mom, Tish, which allegedly may have contributed to the short separation of Cyrus' parents. Now, with that relationship back on track, so apparently are plans to release the song, which seems to really please the Poison frontman. "I think this is the song that will cross her over," Michaels said. "If it happens, it's going to be a big hit." A rep at Miley's record label had not responded to MTV News request for comment about plans for the song's released as a single at press time. Last year, MTV News spoke to Michaels about working on "Every Rose" with Miley, and he really sang the teen star's praises in the music-cred department. "She's one of the few musicians — and I want to use that word, 'cause she can actually play and sing — she's one of the few people who can pull it off and give it her own flare and make it sound good," Michaels offered. "I gotta tell you something — she nailed the song. She really knew what she was doing. She got in there and picked the guitar up ... It was one of those nights that just worked. It was fun ... It's gotta be her taking 'Every Rose' and making it all hers." What do you think about Miley's cover of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" being released as a single? Tell us in the comments.

Fans weigh in on 'Birthday Cake' and 'Turn Up the Music' remixes and what working together again says about their relationship.

Rihanna and Chris Brown in 2008

When Chris Brown and Rihanna dropped their remixes of "Birthday Cake" and "Turn Up the Music," fans immediately began to weigh in on the collaborations and what they mean about the status of Ri and Brown's highly publicized tumultuous relationship. While the songs may serve as a distraction from their personal past (which includes Brown's assault of Rihanna in 2009), many of the music fans we caught up with in Times Square stood on two sides of the line. Some were willing to forget the past and enjoy the music for what it is, while others were not yet ready to forgive.

"They're both really good artists. I like Chris Brown a lot. He was down at the bottom during that time and then he came back up," James Hauser told MTV News. "So he's starting to do better." Cassy Cnegt pointed out the negative attention it could bring to both artists, rehashing a personal story line that doesn't seem to end. "I think there's going to be a lot of bad publicity about why she's doing it," she said. Another fan, Billy Titus, added, "His music's all right, but I think that she can do a lot better by herself than be with him." Jean-Yves thinks their collaborations show how far their relationship has come. "The fact that they're able to work together is a good sign for Chris Brown, as opposed to the animosity that was there before." However, Aliyyah notes that it's difficult to separate the music from the events. "Personally, I think it's a little bit awkward for them in terms of their relationship, because he did hit her and the world knows that, so it kind of sends a weird message to her fans — especially her women fans — to still support him in that way, but I guess it's not our life," she said, adding that Brown has built up a "bad boy" reputation and that he may be trying to get Rihanna to take him back. While music fans stand on both sides of the complex issue, one domestic violence expert tells MTV News that seeing these two artists work together again is "not surprising." "I don't know what the message [of the songs] is. I would like the message to be: 'People can change, and I will never be treated that way again and I will never treat anyone that way again.' If they had released a song saying, 'This is what this represents for us,' that would be such a much more fabulous, powerful story than not saying a word," Rita Smith, the executive director for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, said. "The content of the songs seems to be more in-your-face than something about, 'We're collaborating on something because we care about the way people treat each other.' That would have been the message that would have been nice to come out of this very public and tragic incident." What do you think of Chris Brown and Rihanna's recent collaborations?
After announcing their split last year Billy Ray Cyrus now says that he and his wife of 17 years, Tish, have decided to reconcile. "I dropped the divorce," Miley Cyrus' dad told the hosts of "The View" during a pre-taped appearance on the show airing Friday, according to USA Today. "I wanted to put my family back together." Cyrus, who appeared on the show to promote his new album, I'm an American, out in June, said he and his family are working out their problems. "Communication I think is one of the biggest problems that we as human beings have in this whole world," he said. "And I think for the first time me and my entire family are finally communicating with each other in a way that, it's been quite some time ... and to answer your question, things are really the best they've ever been." Cyrus also seemed to retract the statements he made in a GQ interview, in which he said that his and Miley's hit Disney series "Hannah Montana" "destroyed" their family. "I feel like I kind of got my Miley back in a way," he said. "I feel like we are the daddy and the daughter that we were before 'Hannah Montana' happened. I love 'Hannah Montana.' I love Disney. That didn't tear my family apart." The country singer did, however, say that fame had something to do with the family's troubles. "Now fame, fame is a different animal, you've got to be careful with that thing because it can ... all things considered, hey, it's all good."

Shakira in her "Loca" video

In her previous videos, Shakira's gone global, game-set-match and, after shooting "She Wolf," probably to the chiropractor. And now, in her new video for "Loca," she's gone guerrilla.

Shot run-and-gun style in Barcelona last month, the "Loca" clip follows Shakira and her crew on a madcap dash around the city — including scenes shot in a public fountain and on the back of a motorcycle, which got her in hot water with local authorities. Thanks to all that, it's a decidedly different turn from her past efforts, most of which were big-budget affairs, and all of which avoided getting her in trouble with the law. "Loca" — which features a cameo by British rapper Dizzee Rascal — is the first single off her new album, Sale El Sol (due October 19), and while the full video won't premiere until Wednesday on MTV.com, you can watch an exclusive 30-second sneak peek right now. There's roller skating, frolicking in a fountain, (very public) costume changes, motorcycle riding and — of course — a whole lot of hip-shaking, too. It's sexy, cheeky and, yes, even a little bit crazy, but then again, what Shakira video isn't? And while "Loca" may be a departure from her previous clips, what makes it great is the simple fact that none of her pop contemporaries — not even Lady Gaga — would dare try something like this. And that's why we love her so much. But why are you reading this? Have a look at our exclusive preview of "Loca" right now, and make sure to check back on Wednesday for the full experience. Trust us, it's worth it. Are you excited for Shakira's "Loca" video? Let us know in the comments!
