Six days after the earthquake and tsunami hit northeast Japan, focus in Tokyo remains on the nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant to the north of the capital. Although many countries are urging their citizens to leave Tokyo, the prevailing mood in the city is one of calm.
Most Tokyo residents appear to be getting back into the routine of everyday life, while still keeping an eye on the developing situation in Fukushima, 240 kilometers away. Early on Thursday, helicopters began to drop cooling seawater on the plant.
