Pair filmed segments for August 19 episode of 'Oprah's Next Chapter' in Rihanna's hometown.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> got a visit from Oprah Winfrey over the weekend. The two ladies met up in the singer's native Barbados to film for Ri's upcoming appearance on <a href="/news/articles/1690437/rihanna-oprahs-next-chapter.jhtml">"Oprah's Next Chapter," airing August 19</a> on OWN.</P><P>Both women tweeted about the meet-up. "What a refreshing surprise she is!" Oprah <a href="https://twitter.com/Oprah/status/231945699267330051" target="_blank">wrote</a> about her chat with the VMA-nominated superstar.She then tweeted out a photo of the pair walking together — Oprah in all green, while Rihanna sported an aqua-colored, floral-print, full-length dress.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="The 2012 Video Music Award Nominees Are..." id="vid:820732.id:1690828" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>The excitement for the chat was felt on both ends with Rihanna <a href="https://twitter.com/rihanna/status/231912768905818112" target="_blank">tweeting</a>, "Look who popped up in my Hometown BARBADOS #topnotch." She included a photo of the twosome in a car with Rihanna behind the wheel.</P><P>This interview marks the first time that Rihanna and Oprah have formally had a sit-down interview. Oprah dedicated an episode of her talk show to domestic violence after the 2009 assault of Rihanna by Chris Brown, but Rihanna did not appear on the show.</P><P>Winfrey had a message for young women who find themselves in abusive relationships during that Rihanna-inspired episode. "If you go back with a man who hits you, it's because you don't think you're worthy of being with a man who won't," Winfrey said during that show. "I've said before, 'Love doesn't hurt, and if a man hits you once, he will hit you again.' "</P><P>Rihanna later appeared on Oprah's show in January 2010, where she performed Bob Marley's classic "Redemption Song" to benefit the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.</P><P>Oprah first announced the Rihanna <a href="/news/articles/1687630/rihanna-oprah-next-chapter-interview.jhtml">"Next Chapter"</a> episode in June. The show has already featured insightful chats with the likes of the Kardashians, 50 Cent and Lady Gaga.</P><P>A few weeks after her Oprah episode airs, Rihanna will see if she can take home a Moonman at the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2012/">2012 MTV Video Music Awards</a>.
